We were back at the school again today. Trevor and I finished assessing the students that the teachers had identified. Well, Trevor did the assessing; I just played with them with a beach ball while he watched their gross motor functions. I was a very good assistant:-) |

We heard from Wilson today that he is getting feedback from the community regarding our presence at the school. Apparently the children have been going home at night and telling their parents they don't want to leave because the muzungus (white people) are teaching and playing with them. Wilson has been stopped by members of his community wanting to tell him how excited they are that we are here. They never had an opportunity to spend time with muzungus and they are grateful that their children now have the chance. |

Today was a long day. We left for the school at 8:00 and arrived home at 7:00 this evening. We finished observing the classes today. We started in Top Class (Kindergarten) with teacher Peninnah. There are two teachers named Peninnah. They call them Peninnah A (Top Class) and Peninnah B (Baby Class). In the Top Class they were reviewing the letters S and T today. There was an exercise written on the board that the teacher would lead and the children would repeat. Peninnah gave each of us a chance to lead the class through the exercise. Lots of giggles ensued:-) |

Wilson picked us up and our day started with a trip into Kampala to exchange money. During rush hour it can take hours to get into and out of downtown Kampala. So we parked the car about halfway to the Forex and walked the remaining distance by foot. It was quite the adventure walking in downtown Kampala during rush hour, weaving in and out of traffic and avoiding the boda-bodas as we crossed the streets. All in all, it took us close to an hour-and-a-half to exchange money this morning. Hopefully we will not have to exchange any more during the rest of our trip! |
